New Hampshire outlawed so-called “conversion therapy” in 2018. Let’s make sure we don’t turn back the clock on progress.
UPDATE 3/16/2022: In a bipartisan vote, the House rejected the legislation, upholding state law protecting LGBTQ+ youth from so-called “conversion therapy.” Apprendre encore plus.
HB 1077 would repeal New Hampshire’s ban on the dangerous and discredited practice of “conversion therapy” on LGBTQ+ youth.
Conversion therapy attempts to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity – a practice that experts including the American Psychiatric Association to the American Academy of Pediatrics agree is not only ineffective, but harmful. Young people who have been subjected to conversion therapy are at increased risk of depression, suicidal thoughts and suicide attempts, and illegal drug use.
