New Hampshire’s HB 377 bans medical care for transgender adolescents and takes away parents’ freedom to make health care decisions for their transgender child.

The is a clear example of extreme government overreach into the private lives of New Hampshire families. Parents—not politicians—should decide what care their children need, with support from medical professionals who follow well-established standards of care.

Parents have an obligation to support the health and well-being of their children—but HB 377 makes that impossible for the families of transgender adolescents.

Governor Ayotte signed the bill into law on August 1, 2025. It will go into effect in January 2026 and will not impact anyone already receiving care before its implementation.
