Strengthening Health Care Protections in Rhode Island
Status: Loss
Update: H7940 and S3107 died in committee in May 2026.
GLAD Law submitted testimony in support of H7940 and S3107, legislation that would make Rhode Island’s protections against discrimination in health care more robust by aligning them with other anti-discrimination laws. This legislation would ensure Rhode Islanders are protected from discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in health care. H7940 and S3107 would also require health care entities to have clear grievance processes and ensure that individuals can challenge discriminatory plan designs and enrollment decisions.
