Back to School: LGBTQ+ Students’ Rights in MA

Monday September 29th, 2025 at 7pm via Zoom

A new school year brings excitement, but also uncertainty—especially when it comes to the experiences of LGBTQ+ students in Massachusetts. Families, educators, and community members may have questions about the implications of federal actions and Supreme Court rulings, how they might impact student rights, and how we can all still protect LGBTQ+ youth.

In this free community webinar, we covered:

  • The current legal landscape affecting LGBTQ+ students in Massachusetts
  • What to know about student’s rights in public schools
  • How to support transgender youth in this moment
  • Resources for LGBTQ+ students, parents, caregivers, and support systems

Why This Matters

Every student deserves to feel safe and supported at school. But now the political climate around LGBTQ+ youth’s rights have shifted, with the Trump administration’s numerous executive orders making healthcare for transgender youth more difficult to access and Supreme Court rulings creating new uncertainty for families and educators on the future of LGBTQ+ students rights. Even in Massachusetts, where students have strong protections, it is crucial to understand how these changes could affect schools and what steps can be taken to safeguard LGBTQ+ students. This webinar will provide guidance and practical strategies so that parents, educators, and community members can confidently protect students and respond to challenges as they arise.
