Que signifie la nouvelle composition de la Cour suprême pour les droits des personnes LGBTQ+ ?
On October 5, 2026, GLAD Law’s civil rights experts shared a preview of two cases on the Court’s calendar – one related to the scope of religious liberty exemptions from LGBTQ+ nondiscrimination protections, the other to the reach of parental rights, both areas the Court has expanded in recent years.
The panelists also discussed a handful of pending requests we are watching to see whether or not the Court will take them up. One of those pending petitions was filed by the Trump administration in GLAD Law’s challenge to the transgender military ban, Talbott c. États-Unis ahead of our scheduled January trial date. Another was submitted by Louisiana, Arkansas, and Alabama attempting to challenge the rights of Massachusetts, New York, and California to protect health care access through their states’ shield laws.
We will keep you updated on these and other case developments throughout the year – and no matter what happens at the Supreme Court, we will continue our work to protect the rights and dignity of LGBTQ+ people and people with HIV.
